No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth,
and no culture comparable to that of the garden.

Chrysanthemum Cuttings

I've never grown chrysanthemums before. At the Greenspring Farm Park plant sale this spring these cuttings were offered for sale at a bargain price -- by the local chrysanthemum club. These pics are from May. They are now doing quite well now, although I'm not sure which variety is which.

I'm Really into Pots this year

Pots do require more watering, but there are virtually no weeds. The lemon balm was quite happy in May. This volunteer was dug from the herb bed which was fully replanted this year. In the background a purchased petunia, recently potted in hanging basket. I'm using a peat moss mix for almost all my pots. Sometimes I add compost (if there is any ready), sometimes fertilizer or a little of both.

Swiss Chard in the EARTHBox

Well, this is some time in May. Since then this chard has provided several meals in the form of quiche ala Grandma Benedetto. You may remember the recipe -- 2 c or more vegies, 4 eggs, olive oil, bisquick, and cheese.
